The Govt will introduce new Rs 1000 notes in a few months and also issue the new series of low denomination with high security features.
The Govt had on Tuesday demonetised the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, already in circulate, as part of its efforts to clamp down towards the black money, fake currency and terror financing. Those are being changed with new currency bills of Rs 500 and Rs 2,000.
"Rs 1,000 notes with new features will be delivered into the marketplace in a few months," monetary Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das said at the same time as addressing the financial Editor's conference in New Delhi on Thursday.

The foreign money notes of lower denomination of Rs a hundred and Rs 50 will continue to be the criminal gentle, he said, adding the Reserve Bank will come out with new series of such notes with new layout and introduced security functions.
The Reserve Bank, time and again, has been introducing new collection of currency notes with new design and more advantageous safety capabilities.
Following the demonetization of the currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, banks on Thursday started distributing new notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2,000.
The new Rs 500 banknotes have more safety functions besides having peculiar shade, theme and length which differentiate the brand new payments from the sooner series.
